Swimming Instruction Policies Agreement
CANCELLATIONS: Weather cancellations are determined by the instructor. The lesson will always be cancelled if there is lightening and/or thunder, and Tamara will contact you to confirm the cancellation and to reschedule. You are not responsible to pay for lessons that have been cancelled by the instructor. If you cancel your child's lesson for any reason (including but not limited to sickness, weather, out of town) you are responsible to pay the instructor the agreed upon rate for your scheduled swimming lesson. Usually Tamara will be able to reschedule lessons that are canceled, but this is not guaranteed. If a lesson is cancelled by you and you do not pay for the cancelled lesson, Tamara will permanently remove you from her master schedule for the remainder of the summer unless the remainder of the scheduled lessons are paid in full. Alternatively, you may contact Tamara at least 24 hours before you would like a swimming lesson and Tamara will make every attempt to fit your one time lesson into her regular schedule.
MAKEUP LESSONS: Tamara has scheduled make-up days for lessons that are cancelled due to weather. These dates are TBD.

POOL ENTRANCE POLICY: Tamara recommends that children are not in the pool when the instructor arrives in order to prevent fatigue and/or coldness later on in the lesson. The lesson does not start when the child gets in the pool. Entering the pool safely is part of the swim lesson and is especially important for beginners. The lesson time begins when Tamara arrives and is ready for the lesson, and the length of the lesson will always last for the total agreed upon time. If the child is not ready for the lesson when Tamara is ready, the lesson will still end after the allotted time for the lesson has passed.

POOL EXIT POLICY: When the lesson is over, Tamara is free to discuss the child's lesson with the parents for a few minutes, but please understand that there is generally only 15 minutes between lessons for Tamara to travel from one home to the next, and if you delay her she could be late to her next lesson.  Tamara is not responsible for the child after the end of the lesson. It is suggested that a towel and/or shoes be ready for the child upon completion of the lesson. If the child is remaining in the pool area, permission must be granted from the parents, otherwise the children will exit the pool area with Tamara.

PAYMENT: Lessons must be paid for before Tamara leaves the lesson site. You may also choose to pay for future lessons in advance. New students must pay for 50% of their reserved lessons before the season begins. Baby and Me classes must be paid up front and in full before the season begins. All lessons must be paid for unless cancelled by Tamara. Failure to pay for cancelled lessons will result in your child's lesson being removed from the instructor's schedule. Please make sure that Tamara knows of all scheduling conflicts before the first lesson begins. You will find a scheduling section on the questionnaire. Payment is accepted by cash, check, and Venmo.

APPROPRIATE SWIMWEAR: Students should wear swimming clothes that do not restrict their range of motion in their limbs. Neoprene wetsuits (half, short, or full) are only to be worn in open water classes, never in pool classes. For students learning or practicing diving and flip turns, one piece swimsuits for girls are recommended. Rash guards are recommended for extra sun protection and for children who tend to get cold. Goggles are permitted and encouraged, however face masks that cover the nose and snorkels are not permitted. Long hair must be tied back in an elastic hair band or secured out of the face with clips.
SUNSCREEN: Sunscreen is recommended whenever your child has a swimming lesson. Even on cloudy days, the strength of the summer sun can still have harmful effects on the skin. Directions on sunscreen labels state that sunscreen should be applied at least 15 minutes prior to sun or water exposure. This is especially important during swimming lessons because sunscreen that is not properly absorbed into the skin can get into your child's eyes and cause pain and discomfort during the lesson.
DISTRACTIONS: Tamara would appreciate your cooperation in eliminating distractions so the lesson is more productive. Distractions include but are not limited to: other persons in or around the pool area (especially siblings or friends), pets in the pool area, construction, lawn mowers, and barbecuing.

I look forward to instructing your child in water safety and swimming skills throughout summer.
