Baby and Me class is designed for parents to be in the water with their children (up to age 2.5) helping them learn motor skills associated with swimming while getting comfortable in the water. The class moves quickly so babies do not get bored. Baby swimming is important for students to develop muscle memory of swimming movements to be used when they enter parent free classes. Nursery Rhymes are included in the lesson for familiarity.


30 Minute Beginner Student Sample Lesson Plan:
3 Minutes - Entering the pool safely, assessment of students mood, blowing bubbles.
3 Minutes - Kicking on the front with the kickboard
3 Minutes - Practicing front swimming arms
4 Minutes - Swimming on front with arms and kicking, face in the water
1 Minutes - Back Floating
3 Minutes - Kicking on the back with the kickboard
3 Minutes - Practicing back swimming arms
4 Minutes - Swimming on back with arms and kicking, face out of the water
2 Minutes - Jumping and climbing out on the pool wall
2 Minutes - Picking up Toys underwater
2 Minutes - Student’s choice
The lesson is designed to teach the fundamentals of swimming strokes while moving on quickly between components to keep the student engaged in the lesson. “Fun” activities like jumping and picking up toys are included in the lesson so the student remembers the lesson as being more fun than work.


30 Minute Intermediate Student Sample Lesson Plan:
1 Minutes: Enter the pool and assessment of student’s mood
1 Minutes: Bobbing/Breathing technique
2 Minutes: Flutter kick on the front with kickboard
1 Minutes: Arm technique
3 Minutes: Front Crawl laps
2 Minutes: Flutter kick on the back with kickboard
1 Minutes: Arm technique
3 Minutes: Back Crawl laps
2 Minutes: Frog kick on the front with kickboard
1 Minutes: Arm technique
3 Minutes: Breaststroke laps
4 Minutes: Introduce and practice new strokes (side, elementary back, butterfly)
2 Minutes: Diving / Deep and Racing
1 Minutes: Survival Skills / Treading Water and Back Floating
3 Minutes: Student’s Choice
The lesson is designed to build endurance while working on technique. The strokes are broken down into arms, kick, and breathing to help with stroke perfection.


45 Minute Advanced Student Sample Lesson Plan:
1 Minutes: Enter the pool and assessment of student’s mood, Bobbing/Breathing technique
5 Minutes: Front Crawl laps
5 Minutes: Back Crawl laps
5 Minutes: Breaststroke laps
5 Minutes: Sidestroke and Elementary Backstroke laps
5 Minutes: Butterfly laps
5 Minutes: Flip turns
5 Minutes: Diving / Deep and Racing
5 Minutes: Survival Skills / Treading Water and Back Floating
4 Minutes: Student’s Choice

The lesson is designed to build endurance while working on technique. The stronger a student gets in their endurance and technique, the more laps they will be able to complete in a 45 minute lesson.
